Reach your goals
“Goals are dreams with a deadline”, and if you write them down you increase your chance to reach your goals.
To work towards and reach your goals give positive returns in all areas of your personal life, and when you know exactly what you want it is easier to focus and concentrate on the important things. Goal setting promotes the long-term vision and short-term motivation. It encompasses intention, desire, acquisition of knowledge and help to organize resources.
Identify a goal
For some, it can be difficult to identify a good goal to work towards.
Whether it is to rebuild a relationship with family or friends, change of career, make a “journey” for personal growth, build wealth or other, one thing is certain: If you do not have good answers to why you want to achieve your goal, it becomes really difficult to reach it.
In a situation where you struggle to set a good and important goal for what to achieve, try to set your goal to “find the things and goal that are important to ME”
Why? – The reasons to fight for your goal
The process of identifying the reasons why you want to achieve your goal is crucial for your own argumentation to the effort required. Working towards your goal will be challenging and at times frustrating, the answers to the question of why help you going.
- “When you feel like quitting, think about why you started”.
- “If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it”.
When? – “Goals are dreams with a deadline”
Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan. The good thing about plans is that they have a starting and ending point. You should clearly state when you start your work towards your goal and by what time you want to reach your goal.
To find the starting point, think of this: One day, or day One – You decide.
To find the ending point:”Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take, the time will pass anyway”. Earl Nightingale
How – “Find your path to success”
Be stubborn about your goals and flexible about your methods. When you have decided on a goal, it is important that you find the way you find most suitable. The HOW is about all the things that must be fulfilled to acquire your goal with the specific tasks you must do. It is not necessary to find answers to everything at once, but you should do enough to point out the direction. Check out our previous blog about the concept >>>
Remember: “Just because the road is less traveled doesn’t mean it won’t work for you”.
Milestones – “Small victories lead to great success”
Milestones play the important role of breaking the larger task down to more doable parts. You use them to see whether you are on the path to the goal or need adjustments. Are you on track or not? Milestones should be connected to the tasks you have specified so that you can see how far along the path you have come at any given time.
You get what you work for, not what you wish for.
Evaluate – “Work with the right things”
A little progress every day add up to great results. Moving towards your goal is a strengthening task. You push yourself outside your comfort zone and thus it is important to see that you maintain the progress you planned for.
I never lose, I either win or I learn
